Public Speaking And Self Confidence

Anyone preparing to speak in front of a crowd should be well educated on the subject of public speaking and self confidence. Speaking in public is a common fear. Many people feel anywhere from mild anxiety to debilitating fear when faced with the prospect of public speaking. There are a lucky few who are naturally confident, but most people have to work at developing this trait. A confident speaker is an effective one, whether they're giving an informative speech or trying to persuade their audience to share their point of view.

One part of self confidence is body confidence. Lots of people are uncomfortable with their bodies and worry about being judged when on stage. The fix for this is to develop self-love and feel good in your own skin. Find clothing that is comfortable yet makes you feel attractive and powerful. Wear shoes that aren't slippery on the bottom or hard to walk in. If you feel good about the way you look, that will project to your audience. Next, work on your voice. Proper pronunciation and enunciation of each word is important when it comes to giving a great speech.

If there are parts of your speech that give you trouble, practice those parts twice as often as you practice your entire speech. Lots of practice is essential to overcoming nervousness. When you know the material up one side and down the other, you are more likely to feel more confident. Once you've memorized the material, work on polishing the entire speech from beginning to end. Practice your speech in front of a video camera or at least a mirror. Get your body movements and gestures down pat. Make sure you're not doing things out of nervousness such as shuffling from foot to foot or hiding your hands behind your back.Watch for any signs of nervousness and work on eliminating them.

Public speaking and self confidence comes down to a few key points. First, one must feel confident about the way they look and sound. Second, one must know the material they are presenting by heart. Third, one must give themselves lots of practice so the words and the movements that accompany them are second nature. All of these elements come together to make a great speaker and a great speech!
